Alrighty here's my thoughts on the game so far.
Skipped the tutorial since a buddy & I picked up the game for his PS3 & we wanted to dive right into it & went straight to exhibition match. Knocked Anderson Silva out as Wand

haha then tapped him out in another bout later on.
The amount of fighters in the game is pretty decent & I hope they have a few more fighters (ex Randy) for download later. The stand up seems pretty straight forward but seems limited in what sort of strikes you can throw. I havent mastered how to throw spinning back kicks or flying knees yet which I assume are the special moves. I guess it all depends on the distance & what your opponent is doing as well. I have a brutal time in the clinch & can never seem to hold the clinch for very long but I have been able to pull guard a few times as well. I do realize that knock outs do happen in mma rather quickly sometimes but playing 1v1 they happen too quickly in the game but I heard in career mode against the computer it doesnt happen as often (mayb because the comp is more methodical when trying to win instead of my wand style of fighting).
The wrestling in the game is really well done & I enjoy it greatly although I have yet needed to sprawl since my buddy is primary a striker at heart so he focused on the takedowns.
The ground game is pretty sick although I felt there could be some changes (in which im sure will be included in the next game). I love the transitions in the game & it flows really well. I do not however like the fact that my fighter doesn't have a closed guard at all. My buddy managed to pull rubber guard a few times but couldn't pull off a submission due to the fight being early. I love the fact that they include the rubber guard in the game (I might be slightly biased since Im a 10th planet member

).
What bothers me as a jiujitsu practioner is that your chances on pulling an early submission is very slim no matter who you're playing as or against. It's so much easier to put on a submission (with the exception of the RNC) when both fighters are not as slippery. Another issue with the ground game is the fighter on the bottom cannot grab their opponent to stop GNP (or at least it's very hard to). So far I've seen the following submissions: armbar from guard, triangle, kneebar, kimura, guillotine & straight armlock from side mount. I'm also aware that it is possible to pull off a flying armbar but I havent done it myself yet.
This is where I end my review for now until I get a chance to play the different modes. All in all even though I've seem pretty critical of the game I in fact love the game so far. The game definitely requires you in order to get good to take your time & figure out what every movement does. This is especially true in the ground game department as certain transitions will put you into different spots which may feel more comfortable.
Leave your reviews on the game & let me know what you think. There's still tons out there that I haven't tried or thought of yet so let me know if you agree or disagree with what I wrote. Eager to hear what you guys think as well.
